Dogs Welcome
We wanted our cottages to be the sort of places we’d love to stay, and where our guests want to return, so they’re rather special, very well equipped, and very comfortable, and if your best friend has four legs and a waggy tail, don't leave him at home! All our cottages are dog friendly, with their own enclosed area, and you'll find dogs welcome in the local pubs.
There’s details of what you’ll find in your cottage on our facilities page.
Our tranquil location is set in stunning open countryside, yet a mere fifteen minutes’ drive from the M6 at Tebay, just six miles from Kirkby Stephen and twelve miles from England's Book Town of Sedbergh.
Our grounds lead straight onto the fells, and the location is ideal for walking or touring, cycling, sightseeing or simply relaxing by the side of Artlegarth beck or enjoying the views out to Wild Boar Fell, Mallerstang Edge, Ash Fell and beyond.
There’s an abundance of bird life, and you may well spot buzzards and curlews along with the more common species.
Red Squirrels, virtually non-existent in most parts of the country, are daily visitors to our grounds all year. The local Fell Ponies are usually close by, sheep graze the adjoining land, and the antics of the Spring lambs are great fun to see!
Winters here are beautiful, so we’re open all year, including Christmas and New Year. The cottages are very well insulated and have underfloor heating supplied by our ground source heat pumps, along with a wood-burning stove in the lounge for an extra cosy touch in the coldest months, or a romantic mood at any time!
We look forward to welcoming you to our cottages for a weekend or midweek break, a week or more in one of the most beautiful areas of the country.

Nearby
It’s a mile to the facilities in Ravenstonedale, where you’ll find two pub/restaurants serving good food, and a small shop for the morning paper and essentials, while the market town of Kirkby Stephen is only six miles away. Kendal, Penrith and the Book Town of Sedbergh are all within easy reach, and you can travel on the spectacular Settle to Carlisle railway from the station at Kirkby Stephen.
Horse riding and mountain bike hire are available nearby, and there’s trout fishing either on stillwater or on the River Eden. The village has a tennis court and a golf course.
